Central Midlands Family

Families across the Central Midlands can enjoy free library membership, seasonal early-years sessions, outdoor play spaces and eligible help with junior sport. Regional child development pathways and statewide parenting and family violence support also provide practical places to turn when extra help is needed.

✨ Play, read and get active

Moora Library

Borrow children’s books through the Shire-operated library, where membership is free. Story and Rhyme Time outreach sessions are held seasonally at Playgroup; contact the Shire for current session details before planning a visit.

Dalwallinu Community Hub

Beside the Recreation Centre, this outdoor community space gives children room to use the play area and scooter path. Families can also access picnic seating, barbecues, a water fountain and public amenities.

Richardson Park Nature Playground

Head to the corner of Leahy and Wasley Streets in Dalwallinu for playground equipment, a flying fox and a picnic area. Electric barbecues and accessible public amenities support longer family outings.

Wongan Hills Memorial Swimming Pool

The Shire complex has Olympic, infant and toddler pools, play equipment, and in-term and vacation swimming lessons. Reopening is planned for October 2026, with the confirmed date to be announced closer to the time. Children under 10 require adult supervision, while children aged five and under must remain within arm’s reach of a supervising adult.

KidSport

Eligible children aged 5–18 may receive WA Government assistance to join an approved KidSport club. Applications are made by a parent or guardian, and standard eligibility generally includes WA residency and a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card showing the child’s details. Special consideration may apply in some financial hardship circumstances.

🌱 Child development and family health

Western Wheatbelt Primary Health Service – Child Development Services

Based in Moora, this WA Country Health Service pathway provides a regional contact point for child development services. Its stated catchment includes Moora, Victoria Plains, Dalwallinu, Wongan and Ballidu.

Dalwallinu Health Service

Local families can enquire about child development and child health clinics, community midwife and school health services, Aboriginal health, occupational therapy and speech pathology.

Wongan Hills Health Service

The facility lists child development and child health clinics alongside community midwife, school health and Aboriginal health services. Allied health offerings include occupational therapy and speech pathology.

TSH Moora Brighter Futures Pathway

This visiting outreach pathway supports children in Moora with ear health, audiology, speech therapy and occupational therapy. Further visits are listed for November and December 2026; families can enquire at moorabrighterfuturespathway@tsh.org.au.

❤ Parenting and serious support

Ngala Parenting Line

Parents, grandparents, foster carers and other carers of children aged 0–18 can receive free statewide telephone support without a referral. Qualified staff discuss sleep, feeding, behaviour, development, family relationships and suitable services. Call (08) 9368 9368 or, from a regional landline, 1800 111 546, daily from 8 am to 8 pm.

Women’s Domestic Violence Helpline

Women in WA, with or without children, experiencing family and domestic violence can call 1800 007 339 at any time. The Department of Communities helpline provides support and referrals, including referrals to women’s refuges.
